gay fans

so. my axle geforce gt 9500 fans turned gay. it was spinning good when i start up the com, but slows to an old man walking after a while.

i know cause i opened up the casing and seen it for myself.

so is it a PSU fault for not supplying enough power(psu gives 250w average, card nids about 300 or 350 more but been running good for the past 2 months)
or is it the fans itself?

Please don't mislead him, there's no way it's the PSU. Just clean the heatsink / fan and check what's going on in Rivatuner (fan speed and clocks / states).

I thought it was because his card needed more watts because he has a lower than reccomended

I'm on fangedbeast's side here. you can try cleaning it but removing the casing probably voided the warranty so go for it, i guess. i'm surprised your computer even turns on with a gpu that draws 150 more watts than the entire psu. power supplies these days are amazingly affordable, especially on fresh chicken gamete (props if you get this reference). anyways, try cleaning it since you have nothing to lose, if that doesn't work, you might be able to try putting it in someone else's computer that has a proper power supply and if that doesn't work, your graphics card could be dead.

The 9500 will never draw more than about 150W. And sorry to disappoint you, if the card was running out of power it wouldn't slow down the fans, it would turn off

i didn't. fangedbeast, just make sure the check the manufacturer's website to make sure you both have the power to run a card plus a little bit of headway in case you want to overclock or something.

5770 won't draw more than 300W so just add up how much your other stuff needs and add at least an extra 50-ish if not 100-ish watts. Also make sure you don't pick up the cheapest PSU, I've seen some that could barely power the card over the poor "12V rails" if one could even call them that, let alone give them enough juice for a decent OC ;__;
