How do I open up NAT or enable UPnP?

So I installed Modern Warfare 2 and it is asking me to open up my NAT and enable UPnP. I went to the site Infinity Ward asked me to and yeah. I clicked on the site for my router and it asked me to type my router IP into the browser, so I did. After I typed it, I tried clicking the buttons on the top and it needed a User and Pass, so I exited that and searched some more. On the search engines, it told me to go into my router and change some stuff up. Ex: type in CMD on your PC search thingy and blah blah blah. I did that but I don't want to ruin my router for my family.

I play Modern Warfare 2 on Steam (PC).

first of all you need to go type this in to your browser

almost all routers use that and BTW witch router do u have

I have a Netgear WGT624v3.
I tried doing that too.

go to portforwarding.com and download the pfconfig, install it and run it once its loaded pick your router and then pick game and press forward this app and then click update router
