DS1 was pretty much inspired by Event Horizon, so you know its good.
Dark decent is the opposite side of horror. It does this by making you defenseless, and letting your imagination do the work, instead of coming right in your face and scaring you. You know there are monsters there, but they never come right out and make themselves obvious. Your imagination starts to work, and it makes you more on edge to think that something will be there, and never does, than knowing something is going to jump out at you, and then it does.
