Never build a base under the assumption it won't be found. It's just a matter of time, so if you are smart, you'd hide the valuables in a secret location that's too obvious for anyone to look but well hidden.

This is why whenever i log off, before i do, i transfer all of my valuables to my inventory and whatever's in the chests of my base i'm alright with it being stolen
as long as i got my armor, tools, ores, etc; then i'm fine because i could always relocate.
