You dont need 2 GB of RAM just to host 6 players as someone said. You can run about 60 players on that and you dont even need a dualcore CPU as the minecraft server can only run on one core at a time. The conection speed is perhaps the bottleneck, im living in sweden and have a very good connection with 10\10 in internet speed with 28 MS. Im able to host ALOT of people from a PC run from home. The only reason you would want more RAM is if you use lots of plugins and protect your server from burst RAM if the server generates more chunks ect.

The only thing that makes lags happen is when you generate the map and such. Now dont be fools and think that you need like 100000GB ram for 1 person.

Ram isnt the only thing, but is still very important
stuff like the processor and cooling equipment matter too.
also, 2 GB isnt enough to host 64 ppl -_-

You guys are seriously stupid. Like RAM matters where you are in the world. Bullshit. RAM is used to storage shortterm processing memmory and how do you think for instance brohoster do 60 players on 2 GB and they work fine? Becouse the memmory doesnt matter if you have lots of processing power and since the server can only use one Core at a time the clockspeed matters alot becouse if you have low processing power the RAM fills up when the CPU cant process it all and then the server crashes. A quad-core CPU has about 3.0+ GHz in processing speed but most dualcores got 4.0+ GHz, so in normal circumstances a Quad core is better but as the server can only use one core a dualcore with higher clock speed is better and make sure you dont get "Out of Memory" errors. Now ping matters more than connection speed as each player uses very little when they have downloaded all chunks.

Now if it still lags i would recomend reinstalling your OS as corrupted files can slow down your computer ALOT.

i can host 30 players and i have just over 3gb ram. i want to host and play at the same time tho....
