go to youtube and search up ICEFLOWSTUDIOS. The channel is made by a guy with a passion for photoshop, and he teaches mainly the basics, and many of his tutorials are very easy to follow.

Try NOT using tuts. You could learn to make your own work from the start, and it's a great feeling when you look at a tut on an effect and you can say "Yeah, i learned to do that myself."

You get a lot more creativity since you can draw on a library of your own experiences and ideas and not have to looks through mountains of tuts every time you make something. You just open up a program and do what comes naturally.
