you're right. they don't help people that are getting shot at. they don't help people that are getting abused. they don't pull drunks over to get them off the road. they sit there and don't do shit.

It happens way to much. but its very uncommon for even 1 police death in south dakota. the last one was 2-3 years ago and it was actually a sherif. and jon look at the pictures/video it tells you rapid city,sd not to far from the sturgis bike rally.

Cops do a shit, at least some do. The only thing that keeps this big blue marble spinning is order. The norms and parameters of "order" are set by laws, rules, and regulations. The most important thing though, is the enforcement of said laws, rules, and regulations. This is where entities such as law enforcement come in. But this system is inherently flawed because it is enforced by humans. Humans are susceptible and quite vulnerable to corruption. And when the enforcement of "order" is corrupted, all hell breaks loose.

What I am trying to get at is that a LOT of cops are corrupted, especially in metropolitan areas such as NYC. This corruption seeds distrust and hate for the very force which is supposed to help us.
