Hello all i was looking through my grandparents basement and found a sword my grandpa took off of a Japanese soldier when he was in Hiroshima.
I would like to know the worth of this Sword
*Editted in:
THIS SWORD WAS AN OFFICER'S THAT MY GRANDFATHER KILLED AT HIROSHIMA!
There is a button on the handle that has a slide feature which if pressed would allow an item to slide into the handle, i believe this makes the sword into a bayonet, this sword has a holster though so it can also be Infantry or Calvary making it multi-purposed.
Measurements:
the Sword is 20.3'' long
the blade is 15.6'' long
the handle is 4.7'' long

Seperated from Sheath:
The handle:
The Blade:
The blade is not very sharp but the point is EXTREMELY sharp.
What would you estimate this is worth? although i do plan on keeping it it belongs to my grandma and she may want to sell it.

It would be worth a lot, considering the age + rarity of it.
Buff out those marks.
Tony's alt
element those marks might actualkly make it worth more because it shows aging and rarity as minivan said.
and ur not supposed to mess with antiques

but i cant remember how much they said it was worth
I would say about 4000$?
Really don't know, but having a WW2 sword is pretty rare, and considering it didn't decay or anything

Are you sure that's a Japanese sword? Looks like a German sword
Don't think its going to be worth an amazing amount of money, this sort of bayonet was probably common to many infantry men, meaning finding another one of its kind fairly easy.
