Are you running windows 7?
Go to your APB executable, right click, properties, compatibility, "Disable Windows Composition", Apply.
Hmmm....
Do you have an IM or something? I could solve this very quickly if you had one :/

Nice. Ill try it out in a minute. It works without any error so far. It does flicker a little but it certainly works.

More of a PC troubleshooting question
When I run this xhair my GPU (570gtx) is only utilized at about 40% showing 40-55fps. This also occurs when I have the window's taskbar visible (as opposed to hidden). However, if I turn on aero glass, the GPU is fully 100% utilized (unlocked 150fps). Anyone know why this may be? I use reddot.exe overlay and it does not cause the fps loss like this one does.
It has to do with DWM, the new graphics system for windows vista and 7, and how I draw the crosshair on screen. I'm not utilizing the most efficient method for drawing it, as I'm not to familiar with the new DWM commands for drawing on the screen and setting up pixel colors with the WM_PAINT function. In the future, as I learn more about drawing on the screen, I'll be able to fix that problem.
I'm just doing a call to the GDI32.dll using the set pixel function in an infinite loop which is quite taxing if you have DWM enabled.
OR.... Thats what I believe to be the cause anyway... Maybe some nifty C++ coder will tell me otherwise.

Yea, it has *something* to do with DWM. It's just such a large difference that I can't believe there isn't a popular fix. I've been trying to fix this issue for over a year - I believe it occurred on my ati 6870 also. For now, I'll stick with reddot.exe even though it flickers like crazy and shows up in streams. Would love to get this DWM issue fixed. If I enable aero glass it'd work fine, but screen cap programs don't play friendly with aero glass =/

Hi First off, Thank you for the crosshair overlay, now I can take the tape off my screen. I had 2 questions about this crosshair overlay, 1) To change the color of the crosshair do you have to use Photoshop? Cause I tried in just windows paint and I lost the transparency around the crosshair. 2) When I run this Punkbuster kicks me out after about 5 mins with an error about running an illegal program. Not sure if anyone else has seen this. Is there a way around this?
Typical. Scans the topic for an attachment and hits download. Then comes back whining that it doesnt work. I SAID it didn't work in the EXACT same post that you downloaded from. Oh well
Downloads - apb-crosshair - crosshairs for apb - Google Project Hosting
That brings you to the repository which includes the x64 and x86 variants, along with the cfg. It's really easy to figure out. Have fun!

Actully, yes I did read the entire thread before doing anything. I guess I didn't read close enough. First time through it sounded like it didn't work unless in windowed mode, which I was in. With what you said and rereading the thread it makes sence now. Thanks for clearing that up.
