Dedicated Server Announcement FEB.22.2012
Greetings Operators!
As avid gamers ourselves, we understand the negative impact that network latency (or "lag") can have on gameplay, especially in a First Person Shooter! While there is no way to overcome the issue of lag entirely, we have taken the next step towards providing a better gaming experience for everyone.
Today, we are proud to announce that Project Blackout has switched to a dedicated server model!
What does that mean? Well, in the past, the Project Blackout servers would act as a relay between players who wanted to play. The server would help you set up the match, but then the room's "host" would also become the "server" for that game room, and lag in that game would depend on everyone's connection to the host. Now, the Project Blackout servers themselves will arrange AND host the games, so you only need to worry about your connection to the server.
To better serve our community, the dedicated servers are being hosted from the East Coast of the United States. We hope you will enjoy a higher quality of gameplay from this change. We will continue to actively monitor server activity to determine what changes may be necessary going forward
