It's something that's meant to get people in the mood or happy right before something big. Like this pep rally was for the homecoming game. It usually contains extremely loud, deafening sounds and poorly coordinated cheerleader performances.

Mine fucking suck. They seperate everyone by grade in the bleachers. The DJ is always playing some Lady Gaga shit or Brittany Spears. There's always those depressing ******s in the stands that say they should have played (insert rock band name here) instead. Occasionally we get a good song. Here's how all of our pep rallies go: Take 20 minutes calling students down to the gym by floor instead of just telling everyone to go, which would be quicker. Segregate everyone by their grade in the bleachers. Have the DJ play a song for each sports team we have, while the players come out and do some gay ass dance and go sit on the floor in a group. Then they start yelling shit nobody cares about. Then they play a game with 1 player from each team. The winner gets a grant towards their sports budget. Then there's a dance competition in which a player from each team and then 3 judges (teachers that just want to go home) score them. Winner doesn't get shit.

Boring shit is boring. Doesn't make any difference to anyone but the jocks and horny cheerleaders that give it to anyone that asks.
