    Most important process for producing an earthquake?

    the title says it all ^^^^^^


    i have geography homework and i need help on this question... "Describe, in Detail, one natural processes that you think is the most important in producing your extreme natural event (Earthquakes)"

    compression of tectonic plates. eventually the pressure is enough to cause one of the plates to slip up over the other, that release of energy sends massive waves traveling through the ground, boom you now have an earthquake.

    Not necessarily. They can be divergent (moving apart), convergent (moving into each other), transform (moving alongside). The friction created by these 3 categories results in earthquakes.
