I'm not a geek, but I'm quite academic and I'm not dumb at all, although I do go out and party quite alot. The thing is though, i know being a doctor would help me out alot, I want to have a stable income and someday have a family, but I just don't know If I can go through with doing something I don't want to do. I'd probably get used to it after a while but I have a passion for design and I think I'm pretty creatively inclined.

I made a lot of mistakes in life, and I am only 20. At school I followed what other people pushed me to do and it took me through depression for a few years and a lot of bad shit happened to me, I have only just managed to start getting myself back on track.

Dean, may I suggest that you only do what you feel is right and what you want to do, nothing more, nothing less.

If you don't like being a doctor you just don't do that go with gfx couse its your passion its your talent and others you never ever can use that talent very much and to help people and such things so my opinion just do GFX couse that is what you really want

Well the point is: What's the job-situation at the market? Are graphic-designers needed, if yes then think about in 5-10 years, what's the past showing? Doctors will be needed always BUT it's getting down with the money but up with hours you work additional.

I'd personally would choose what I am able of to do and I don't hate (hey, my job isn't what I wanted to do either but I can live with it and learning additional computer-stuff is more easy than learning stuff of the work I currently do) ... but if there's no future for graphics at the job-market you may have learned things you can and like but sit there with a bunch of beers at the computer and dreaming of a work ...

in your situation I'd personally would never choose becoming a doctor but that's mostly because I hate learning and studying things for so many years which I don't even give a damn of ^__^ (the less time for learning things in life, the more time for doing things)

Haha thanks for the advice guys. I'm going to talk to my Careers advisor seeing as they'd know what situation the job market is in right (i have no clue) and maybe have a better idea about what I should do. CGI could be an option @KiddKarma, but yeah I guess I'd have to learn about it.

It's a hard decision which will affect my whole adult life and I want to be careful with this.

Money depends on what you're going to do with your art. If you do album artwork, you get paid very well. Anything else, idk.

I suggest sticking with what you want to do. You definitely don't want to get older hating what you do.

Plus, then you can be your own boss, not have to worry about people dying when an operation fails (if that's the stuff you're going to do) and feeling like complete shit. You also don't have to worry about having someone go to 3 different doctors then complaining when you have a different suggestion for medication.
