Recently, many cf players received a cf error, a Halloween patch error, disconnection error and a stuck error.. Scroll down to find your error and how to fix it
There are many ways to fix these problems
For CF ERROR or CF NOT LOADING
1. What Anti Virus program are you using?
2. Have you added any xtrap or game files to an exception list?
3. Have you tried disabling the virus program during installation and running of the game?
As for Solutions to the problem.
First make sure your running Cross Fire in administrator mode.
McAffee has updated their program and should no longer detect any CF Files are false positives.
Some free virus scanners are detecting some CF files as trojans. This is a FALSE POSITIVE. CF Contains no malicious files.
Make sure to disable your virus scanner during all phases of the game. Download, Installation and Running. At the very least as a test to see if the game functions normally under these conditions.
Xtrap has been known to conflict with SOME video caputuring and voice communication software. Skype, Fraps etc. may not run properly or conflict with the game when running. Make sure to try and close those extra programs down when running CF. Again, as a test to see if the game will function without them.
Also for avast and avg users:
Uninstall the game completely
Disable your antivirus' realtime protection
Redownload the game
Install the game
Add the entire crossfire folder to your antivirus exceptions
Re-enable realtime protection
If you downloaded the game with your antivirus active, it may be 'cleaning' the rez file upon download.
The source File is corrupted
This is similar to the previously mentioned "File is changed" error. If your antivirus software's realtime scanner is active while you are downloading the game, it could result in corruption of the download. Temporarily disable your realtime scanner, then redownload the game client. Keep realtime scanning disabled while you install the game. Make sure to add the entire Crossfire folder to your antivirus' exceptions list before you re-enable the realtime scanner.
For Disconnection Issue
People using routers
It seems that some players who are experiencing this error have Universal Plug and Play disabled on their routers. Consult your router's documentation on how to enable uPNP, or follow the instructions below to get to your router's setup page and look for the option yourself. This fix is much better and more secure than the DMZ fix.
If you would like to try and find the router settings for yourself, you can follow these steps to get to the router's setup screen:
Go to routerpasswords.com and find the default password for your router
Open a command prompt window
Enter IPCONFIG and press enter
Write down both the IP address and Default Gateway
If you are using a router, it most likely has its own firewall. Unfortunately since there are many router manufacturers, its almost impossible for me to create a guide that would offer step-by-step instructions on how to set up these 'port forwards'. Please consult your router manufacturer's website for information on how to accomplish this. The ports you will need to forward are: 10009, 13008 and 16666 (both TCP and UPD just to be safe). If you visit portforward.com you can find instructions on how to forward these ports for your router, however Cross Fire has not yet been added to their list of games. Simply pick a random game and replace the values that they have listed with the values listed above.
Step 1: Simply open your firewall
Step 2: Click on windows firewall manage
Step 3: Click on exceptions tab
Step 4: Click on add port button
You will need to add 3 different ports, but each one twice (one for TCP and one for UDP). The name/port/protocols are as follows:
Name: Crossfire
Port: 13008
Protocol: TCP
Name: Xtrap1
Port: 10009
Protocol: TCP
Name: Xtrap2
Port: 16666
Protocol: TCP
Name: Crossfire
Port: 13008
Protocol: UDP
Name: Xtrap1
Port: 10009
Protocol: UDP
Name: Xtrap2
Port: 16666
Protocol: UDP
Even if you use a router, the Windows firewall is most likely active on your computer. The following steps were done on a Windows XP Service Pack 3 system, but Vista and Windows 7 should be nearly identical.
People not using routers
The second solution is a little more detailed. Consult your router's documentation on how to either disable the router's firewall, or place your computer in the demilitarized zone (DMZ). Unfortunately because of the sheer number of different routers I am unable to provide a how-to here on the forum. If you are not using a router, be sure to allow all traffic from the the following IP addresses:
SERVER1=74.200.6.161
SERVER2=74.200.6.163
Zombie Mode Error
If you have Shadows enabled by editing your config file then you may have issues playing Cross Fire Zombie Mode. A window may pop up saying "Send Error Report".
In order to solve this you will have to do one of the following steps:
1. Revert the changes in the CF Files.
2. Delete the system.dat file and run the game again (the game will create a new one with the default options selected).
3. Uninstall the game completely and reinstall the game.
Problems not solved yet:
Patcher and bug problems
Cf Client error 24_3
Loading problems (takes a long time)
Black Screen issue
That's basically it for now
Ill keep updating this if there are new problems..
