companies already run the world, corruption and cash, will probably be the most accurate worlds to describe them, companies dont run the world because we let them, they do because we accepted, accepted a better life, technology, education, everything runs on money, and they are a priority to us, in order to get them, we give money to companies, who run the world. its how it must be, its always been like this, and will always be, if you want a free internet, go ahead, vote against it, but companies wont stop manipulating just because we finally got a free internet, in other words:

it doesn't really matter to me much anymore
even if we voted it down the companies would find some way to reintroduce without the peoples involvement or they would disguise in order to pass it without suspicion
this would normally be approved by those who believe that money = power (as many do)
but with that belief there is always the opposite of the pendulum swing (as do many movements in the world there is always a counter movement) those who would believe that money does not equal power and that it resides in the people who have the numerical advantage
although one my gain the upper hand on the other they will never truly dissolve and one will never gain victory over another.
the only thing we can really be assured of is that they will fight over these things with the consequence to the people.
