HELP: Movie to GIF

How do you make an Animation from a movie?! Ive been trying for ages but have never found out how! If anyone can post a tut or a like it would very much appreciated.

i'd say first do this, cut the part of the movie you want, you might be able to save as a give from this program if not, use the cut portion of the video, open it up with flash studio 8, then save that as a gif :O

or u could use the lame way, take a bunch of screens and then play them rapidly in the gif.....ahh....the classic...
