Buying the cheap Russian version of MW3 when you live in the US

This i just an idea and I would like to hear other people's opinions.

Since Russians can buy MW3 for as cheap as 16 dollars on Steam, would it be possible to get a Russian proxy or VPN, make a new account, buy the russian version of MW3, and gift it to your normal Steam account?

Well, I tried it and I almost got it to work. Only problem is you need a way to pay with Webmoney or Yandex. Pretty sure it's possible.

I just used a random Russian proxy, not even a VPN.
Went to store.steampowered.com and made a new account and verified the email.
Added MW3 to cart, at this point it still says $59.99 for price.
Choose PURCHASE AS A GIFT and gift it to the email of your real Steam account.
Fill out the bullshit gift card notes.
Choose Webmoney or Yandex and check the box that says "I verify that I live in Russian Federation"
The price will be 899 rubles, which equates to $29.4428. (I was wrong about it being $16 for Russians, must have been a diff country, maybe Belarus)

It won't work if you choose Visa, Mastercard, Amex, or ClickAndBuy unless you have a card issued in Russia from a Russian/Euro bank.

I am gonna fuck around more with Webmoney and Yandex later today.

Steam doesn't give you an option to pay with Paysafe or Paypal if you are on Russian IP.
Does Steam give you the option to pay with Paysafe and Paypal when you are on Belarus IP?

Try it. You won't actually pay until you see the total amount and confirm it.

I doubt it will work with Paypal though because your address on Paypal won't be in Belarus.

I still would like an explanation as to why it was a dumb fucking idea.
From what I've tried so far, it's entirely possible. All I need to do is load money into a Webmoney account by either a bank transfer or Paypal to WM transfer.
