Left CE open while playing... Am I screwed?

So I used CE to edit a weapon level, but I accidentally left CE open (iw5mp) while playing online (VAC protected server).
How big is the chance that I will be banned? or does VAC only detect CE if it edits data WHILE playing on a VAC server? (I didn't use it ingame, just forgot to close it)

I really hope that I won't get banned for stupidity, but I have my doubts

I edited data, but outside of the VAC Protected servers, the problem is that it still had the dll injected (thats what CE does right?) while I was in the VAC server.
I'm just not sure if VAC detects cheats by dll injections or actual changes during gameplay.

you're screwed. vac is shit. i was using a mod on Modern Warfare 2 and it banned me from black ops. I didnt do anything on blackops. It can't tell the difference

To be honest. Cheat Engine is known by VAC for a years - if you'll do somesthing "wrong" - it will ban you instantly, because Delayed VAC bans only applies to "fresh" cheats. For testing: make another account on steam -> download HL2 Deathmatch -> thy something funny with Cheat Engine, for examlpe Aimbot or Speedhack - it will ban you instantly. So, if you was running Cheat Engine while playing on server BUT NOT editing memory(hooking to iw5mp.exe or not doesn't matter) - you won't get banned. There are many processes, that hoocks to game - overlays, Fraps, Playclaw and others - reading memory isn't a reason for a ban. ESP/Wallhacks detecting as a "cheats" because they reads memory in special regions and writing overlays, that're constantly moving - that's why radar hack is less detectible as a ESP/Wallhack.

i did the same thing edited my stats and left ce open omfg how dumb i didnt know steam ban you for having this software.

If they ban me i dont give a rat's ass, it will just mean they are helping me with my life and not be a total freak out nerd that sits behind my computer all day so i do hope they will ban me it will actually help kick start me and get me out of my mom's basement.

haha, well im still playing, at least for now. but yea same, just means ill go to bf3, and never touch cod again. no more hacking stats lol
