Whats your personal opinion about suicide? I know that many of you don't give a damn, and especially when the OP is a muslim. Well actually, i am a muslim by word but not be action. So if you only have trash to say than don't post at all.

Suicide is a cowards way out. The only time it would ever be justifiable is if you were saving many other people in the process some way. If you think ending your life is what you need to do, you are wrong. You weren't born just to give up like a pussy. Yes I am being rude, but it's true. If you can take what life throws at you, then you're strong. If you kill yourself, you're weak. If starving children in 3rd world countries can continue to push on, so can you.

Basically Old Testament's all fear, fear, fear, or you'll burn like an overdone marshmallow, and then the New Testament says respect and all that

Fear in the old testament is more like respect. Its worded oddly though.

I'm pretty sure it was meant to mean "fear", just as it does in many other religious texts. Whether or not you Christians have decided to misinterpret it nowadays and make it more socially acceptable by substituting "fear" with "respect", doesn't change the fact that for the most part we all follow similar moral values and rules mainly because the consequences of breaking them are feared.

Actually Doc he's right.. this might help you understand it a bit more.

The word fear is used a lot in the Bible, but there is a difference between servile fear, and fear as in reverence to God.
Keep in mind the translational integrity.

    Still has that "fear" factor:

Also if we're talking about the Qur'an, it's even clearer

I've read the bible twice and I aren't religious. The first time when I was 16 and the second when I was going through some really bad times a year ago when I was 19. Like I said, I aren't religious but I find some of the passages in there to be rather inspiring.

Hey dude, I'm no longer religious..but I mean if God exists I'd say we should have a certain level of fear..
This would be a being that can create and destroy universes at will..kinda makes me want to poop a little.
Just sayin. Either way, my point was that FEAR in the Bible always doesn't mean to be scared shitless of God.

    I agree
It isn't required by god to be afraid but the guy that could instantly kill you in any way imaginable I would be "fearful" of
