The Verizon website is rather unclear to me, as I cannot quite view all prepaid smartphones (when browsing their smartphones they require a data plan )

My advice would be either the 'Samsung Galaxy II', 'Samsung Galaxy Note N7000' or perhaps the 'Galaxy Nexus'
(All three available for prepaid in the Netherlands)

Imo the Note is overrated and way too huge, I would also pick the Galaxy SII over Nexus because the screen isn't that important with such small screen sizes and hardware-wish it outperforms the Nexus, afaik. Droid Razr is a decent competitor too, ranking somewhere around Nexus' level (albeit with a tad bit less memory and a slightly weaker gpu).

Dunno where you live and how Verizon offers phones, but if you can, I would opt for either the Samsung Nexus or Droid Razr, based on the specs and details I can find online

Personally I prefer LG's stuff, but since their Optimus series they haven't really produced anything really spectacular. Galaxy SII is awesome though, provided you care a lot about that extra gpu performance.
