This isn't really a signature nor an avatar, more abstract. But I did it in Photoshop. Anybody wanting a tut I'll make it, because I made this by just messing around O_o. It doesn't have to be Earth looking either, any texture will do, and it's fun to do

Pretty funky. A bit more contrast and a change of colour should just about do it. : )

add more thinks to it it being struck my a meteoroids one side
and other side some other shit exploding and a bigger version
(yes, i know i am quoting that overly used wallpaper with big exploding earth, but it would still look coo, simply point said make it more then just a planet..l)

Well I'll have you know I made this from a flat square picture. So it's pretty good imo. But as for making an alien mothership...

Use the selection tool/pen tools for the "sucking-in" effect.
