ANOTHER GOAT IS FOUND DECAPITATED
This makes the 11th dead animal in about 18 months

Fort Walton Beach-
An eleventh decapitated goat was found Monday morning on a vacant lot on the northwest side of town.

An Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office Deputy spotted the goat in the lot at the intersection of Tanager Road and Forest Heights Road.

"It was very much off of a beaten path," said Dee ________, director of animal services for the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society. "I have to commend her on finding it"

The goat was the smallest victim yet of the killings, which started in July 2007. Investigators wavered over whether to include the first one-- found at Hollywood Boulevard and Jonquil Avenue, with its head far removed from its body-- but now believe the killing is linked

The most recent were a pair of goats found at different locations in August 2008.

All of the decapitated goats have been found in the Fort Walton Beach Area.

This was the smallest of the animals, ________ compared it to the size of a cocker spaniel.

"It's a little girl," she said."Its 'little' little."

Based on the initial findings, the animal does not appear to have been killed on the lot. _________ said there was no litter or pool of blood there.

It had been there long enough to have bugs on it, which could mean it was placed there as early as Sunday Afternoon, _________ said.

The crime scene bears a striking similarity to the other goat killings, including several trademark details that have never been released to the public. That diminishes the possibility that this is a copycat crime, _________ said.

"They wouldn't know this certain information to do this," she said.

The goat did have leaves in its mouth, which is a characteristic of the other killings. However, these leaves appeared to have come from the lot on which it was found.

"We could actually see the tree they were broken off of," _________ said.

The plants found in the mouths of the other goats were not from the area where the animals were found.

Neighbors told investigators they didn't see or hear anything Sunday night.

"Because of The Superbowl, people just weren't paying attention to what was going on," ________ said.

A necropsy will be performed and the Sheriff's Office will assist with compiling and analyzing evidence.

__________ admitted to being discouraged at Monday's finding. It has been nearly six monthssince the last two goats were found.

"We were so hoping whoeverit had been had moved on," _________ said. "It's been months and months and months. And were no closer to finding out who's doing this"
