    FPS Game

    Applications are currently: Open

    Heres the deal:

Me and Seemliss are creating an FPS game.

Seemliss will be the Lead Programmer, and I will be the Lead GFX Artist. We still need a Lead Writer/Scripter!!

We need absolutely ALL the help we can get.

Seemliss has already downloaded 10GB worth of material for this project and printed out books on coding. We are being serious about this project. Its no joke. We will make an FPS game. It will be successful.

If you want to be a part of this incredible project, please post below with your skills. Again, we need a Lead Writer/Scripter, so if you're interested apply below.

    FORM:

    1. What would you consider yourself: an Artist, Programmer or Writer?

    2. How experienced are you?

    3. Your age and gender?

    4. Do you have time to take out of your schedule to help out with this project?

    5. How can we contact you(MSN, Xfire, IRC, etc)?

    6. Do you cooperate with others?

    7. Can you work under pressure?

    8. Would you consider being a voice-over for one of the characters in this game? (Yes or No)

A scripter and a programmer are two very different things. If you're programming a game engine, then you'll need both. Are you working off of an engine, or are you programming the whole engine yourself? Also, make sure the programmers you recruit actually know the C++(not C) language. For developing games, you're much better off with OOP programming. C doesn't offer classes, and classes are everything in games. If you're programming the game yourself, seperate the render-code from the rest of the game. Meaning, to draw text, use a created class called renderClass or something. Then opposed to going d3dDevice->DrawText(...) you can go renderClass.DrawText(...). This will make it easier to upgrade to more modern DX versions, and if you ever do plan to go cross-platform, you only have to change one class(possibly other segments of code depending on the OS).

There are two types of tragedies in life. One is not getting what you want, the other is getting it.

If you wake up at a different time in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?

    waw.
I can help if you seriously need all the help.
I'm not going trough all the "gender age location" crap.
But you can contact me anytime, I'll mostly be on MSN.
I've done partially artwork for another game. Mainly ingame graphics.
Like the custom cursor, and perheps the layout for the game.

but i doubt you'll need my help anyway.
PM me if you do though, I'll always be availeble.

( Unless i start hating you. but i have no intention on doing so....... so guess what, I'm availeble )

Well, Jetamay, I am using an engine. And no I am not using FPS Creator ROFL.
I know there are differences between a scripter and programmer. I am pretty aware of a lot of things required in this. For one, a game programmed in C or C# is like trying to play CoD4 with a Fisher Price keyboard. Torque is built in C++. I know you said it was shit but you are completely incorrect. I am also using the latest build and the Advanced version.

Also, these games can be exported and burned to a disc to be played on the 360 if you do it correctly. Thanks for the insight, though.

The only way you're going to get a C\C++ project on a 360 console, is if you use the XNA & .Net framework, and translate the project to C#. Unless you plan to buy an extremely expensive license from Microsoft. B, I never said Torque was shit, and C, I highly doubt you can burn executable code onto a CD and have it run in the 360. Hence their anti-piracy system. If you could they wouldn't be giving away their required SDK's for the price they're going for. Not to mention it would be an extremely lethal security risk towards Microsoft.

And from what I know, Torque uses OpenGl, where as XNA is a framework for DirectX. So the render-code will require major changes.

Torque Game Engine Advanced is the most easy-to-use next gen 3D game creation platform available. Architected from the ground up for maximum flexibility and performance across a wide range of hardware, TGEA comes equipped with a full suite of of tools and APIs to get your game to the finish line, no matter what your goals. And when you create a game in TGEA, you can publish it across multiple platforms like Windows, Mac, Xbox 360, Steam, iPhone and even in your web browser. There are no limits to your game making abilities with TGEA.

I'm sure it can go on the Xbox360, but you will require a license(which is fairly expensive) If you don't want to pay a million dollars for it you can join the XNA Developers Club, which is only $100 yearly, but you're limited to XNA, C# and the .net framework. Like I said above, if you go with XNA, you will need to do a complete over-haul on the engine, and optimize it quite well.
