    IVY BRIDGE IS HERE!!!

Maximum PC | At Long Last, Intel Officially Launches 22nm Ivy Bridge with 3D Transistors, USB 3.0

Intel has now started shipping their new 3rd generation CPU's out. However, sales aren't starting until the 30th.
I'm definitely buying one of those for my first computer build since they have PCIE 3.0 capabilities, making my future build future-proof.

Probably going to get the i5-3570k.

Seeing as they are more efficient, smaller, more powerful, PCIE 3.0 capable, quad channel memory capable, you have no fucking clue what you're talking about.

IVB doesn't overclock as well as SB (I can get my 2500k up to 4.9 ghz currently), I don't see much use for it in my desktop atm. I'm waiting for Haswell :L

Intel releases on a tick tock model. Ticks are new architecture releases, tocks are changes/additions to the previous tick. Ivy bridge is just a tock. Haswell will be a tick.

If Intel sticks to it's track record, we'll be there in about 4 years time.

Are you kidding me? The 3770K has reached stable near 100% overclocks a number of times.

Actually no, it's the other way around. Ivy Bridge is the 'tick' and Haswell is the 'tock'. Tock signifies new micro-architecture using the previous ticks development technologies. Ivy Bridge's tick was shrinking the die down to 22nm and introducing trigate transistors in the manufacturing process. The Haswell's tock will be a new micro-architecture based on those new technologies.

As for me definitely going to grab myself a 3770K and up that bitch to a nice stable 5.6
    THE ABSOLUTE GREATEST
