It won't fuck his mind up. Grow the hell up, this isn't Vietnam, WW2, or Korea.

He'll get plenty of respect. People will thank him everywhere he goes, and he'll eat for free at more restaurants than he can count. Just because you're a prick who hates people who make freedom possible, doesn't mean everyone else does.

It's a noble thing to want to defend your country, but you have to want to do it for the right reasons.

Grow up? Vietnam, ww2 or korea were the wars to gain respect with. And why wouldn't it? Because it's smaller in size? I bet you didn't see how it looks like when a MG rips your body apart? Or what happens to a head when a .50 pierces itself trough? Those things will make you crazy. And when you finally understand that the war you fought was pointless and for oil(NOT FOR FREEDOM) you will regret what you did and feel guilty..
And ofcourse, it is indeed a noble thing to defend your country. But america is not defending.. They are attacking to keep their economy alive.. Respect is what you get when you free europe of the nazi's. We felt suppresed. Those arabs mostly don't.. They are used to it. And wow, eat for free. Sounds like THE ultimate reason to join the army

People that dislike the United States can't be reasoned with. You just don't know what it's like to be an American, and I can't really fix that.

If you're going to join any branch of the armed forces, go air force so you won't be infantry. I'd rather be a pilot or a mechanic, sounds safer and cooler.

FYI, Vietnam vets didn't gain respect, they came home to a nation that didn't approve of the war they fought.

I never said i disliked the united states. You know where you can't reason with? People that don't read.. I like the USA, but that doesn't mean i actually support their wars?

In America you can go through basic before signing your minimum enlisting service, stop talking out of your asses.

I have NO respect for the army. The military, yes, but the majority of the people in the army are those who fucked up at getting into the military or people who just don't know what they want to do, it's rarely about the country.

You could be stationed anywhere in the world, not just afghanistan (which is the most bullshit war we've been in to date).

If you need the cash, it'll afford you an rx8 with a tuneup and a shitty apartment till you find some minimum wage job.

    IMO military or nothing.

In Canada you sign the contract as soon as you join in but if you don't pass basic then it's voided and they discharge you.
I signed a 3 year term as Armored Rec and did 2 years and got medically discharged cause my leg got fucked up on a 15k run during the winter. I slipped on ice and ended up breaking my right leg and the bone stuck out.

Talk to a recruiter, not a bunch of retards on a gaming forum.

And if you decide to enlist, make sure you get an MOS in your contract that promises a career when you're out. (IE 25b; Information Technology Specialist. Computer repair & Network maintenance.)

Hey.. this retard was in the army... tho I guess I'm the only one here probably that is active and did service?
and he has a point. I went Armored Rec and that doesn't do shit for me career wise so go into a spec trade and you'll also get spec pay (at least in Canada you do)

and yeah that dude has no idea what the fuck hes talking about. then again he's from Jamaica. I don't think he knows how Canada's and America's military system works.

I'm an E-3, 91B that leaves for basic in a few days. The army is a great choice to make. Don't listen tosome of the others In here that have zero idea what they're talking about. Take it from a soldier, it's one of the best things you can do with your life. You get job security, and great pay. As an E-3 I get 1800 a month, 900 every two weeks. You don't even have to to a combat MOS. 91B is a wheeled vehicle mechanic. A job field that also applies to civilian life as well.

Go talk to a recruiter, take your ASVAB and see what you can get into as an MOS. There's no commitment until you sign a contract.

I don't care who you are or what you've done. You have to earn respect.

1800 a month is 21000 a year. You probably got 30,000 with bonuses.

1800 is E-3 base line pay. Deployment pay, hazard pay and so in add onto it. Also, if you have dependents they army will give you an allowance for them.

You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named 'Bush', 'Dick', and 'Colon'.
