If everyone owned a gun, and carried it around wherever they went, and had a briefing before the incident and then trained professionally to use their fire-arm and studied human rights then they might save a couple of lifes - otherwise it's a complete disaster and they'll probably end up getting a few people killed. Illegalizing guns is about:
A) Decreasing circulation.
B) Allowing officers to more easily prosecute and citizens to more easily to identify a dangerous individual.
However, illegalizing guns in the US now won't work. You already have tons in circulation. Neither would trying to implement universal health care\ObamaCare. The healthcare system is already crippled, and privatised.
You guys think that when guns are illegal you can grow them in your back yard and get a host of 'gun runners' to merchandise them around the neighberhood. We aren't talking about illegalizing weed here, these are weapons. Like I said though, there are way too many weapons in circulation right now in the USA. If the USA wanted to illegalize guns, its way too late of an option to be effective.
