Nicotine .
how old are you?
my parents caught me once. Dont get me wrong my parents did there jobs on giving me speech and stuff but Cigarettes are sold in dispensing machines on the street and i can go in a shop and buy some so my parents cant really do anything and they think im clean now. But a pack lasts me a good month <<----- this jncludes sharing with my friends and stuff.
Nicotine is usually or always addictive.
If you smoked for this long, then you should be addicted to it. Nicotine is a powerful drug that stimulates the brain so that you need more of the drug to feel "normal".
If your not addicted and your sure of it, then that means you haven't smoked continuously like my dad. My dad smokes everyday, each day he smokes about 2-3. Sometimes when he gets pissed off, he smokes around 6 per day and adds alcohol.
Only way to see if your addicted, is to try stop smoking for 2-3 weeks. If you can make it through without ANY problems, then your not addicted to it, and idk why. If you made it through but had many thoughts of smoking, that means your kind of addicted. If you cannot make it through those weeks, then your addicted, and should see a doctor.
You are an exception. There are exceptions like weed, weed isn't chemically addictive, but can be mentally addictive when some weak minded people want it and ruin their life because of wanting it.

I don't know then. Maybe your brain reacts differently to Nicotine.
And your thread topic is basically answered. "Why smoking is addicting", because of Nicotine.
