Your friends either have the wrong idea about multiculturalism, or they're stupid. America is the most multicultural country in the world. It is a symbol of multiculturalism. The US does not have it's own independent culture. Instead it is a metaculture, where there are thousands of cultures coexisting side by side, exchanging ideas and customs.
