HELP my upload speed is extremely slow

i went on the speed net test thingy and my download speed is 15 mb/s but upload is only 50kb/s!!

i know the upload speed is usually 1/8 of the download speed but why is mine that slow?

maybe its just my countries internet (new zealand) our internet actually does suck alot

Well the more important part is what kind of speed he is supposed to get ... it's not uncommon to see packages like 10/1 or 10/0.5 in areas that still use dated ADSL or smth with bad physical lines

it could just be a router setting or something like thats restricting my upload speed. everything else is fine i.e ping, download rate and stuff like that, its only the upload

btw my upload is 0.5mb :P srry (but still slow)

0.5Mb/s = 64kB/s, so if you're getting ~50kB/s upload that sounds about right? I honestly doubt you have only 50kb/s upload...

well when i tryed to upload any file to hotmail, gmail or anything it takes 3 minutes to upload something 10mb (100mb takes 30 min (tested) )

Sounds about right. You gotta differentiate between bytes (B) and bits (b). 1B=8b, 0.5Mb/s = 64kB/s. You're getting 50-60kB/s which is more than normal for a connection that is capped at 64kB/s (you have some overhead & other programs also require some bandwidth which makes up for the few missing kB/s).
