I always thought they were banned
and no it shouldnt be banned
So, I'm sure most of you who go to school have heard that the government may ban automatic guns soon.
What's your view on that? Should automatic guns be banned, or no?

edit;
or at least try and ban them.

I don't see why you would ever need an automatic rifle, hunting or just using it at the fire range.
Will they be banned in firing ranges as well?
I haven't heard about it but I agree with it... Why would anyone need anything as powerful as an automatic anyway?...I mean, really...?

No they aren't, in the U.S.A these current states don't have bans: (Minus a few, I took a minute to research and this is what I came up with)
AL, AK, AZ, AR, CO, CT, FL, GA, ID, IN, KY, LA, ME, MD, MA, MN, MS, MO, MT, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NM, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, WV, WI, WY.
All machine guns made prior to 1986 and are registered with ATF are legal.

Ohhh, this is a complete blanket ban on automatic firearms? 2nd stupidest fucking thing I've heard this week. First off, gun owners with registered automatic weapons have a sterling fucking record.
"Since 1934, there appear to have been at least two homicides committed with legally owned automatic weapons. One was a murder committed by a law enforcement officer (as opposed to a civilian). On September 15th, 1988, a 13-year veteran of the Dayton, Ohio police department, Patrolman Roger Waller, then 32, used his fully automatic MAC-11 .380 caliber submachine gun to kill a police informant, 52-year-old Lawrence Hileman. Patrolman Waller pleaded guilty in 1990, and he and an accomplice were sentenced to 18 years in prison. The 1986 'ban' on sales of new machine guns does not apply to purchases by law enforcement or government agencies."
2nd of all, I think that gun control politicians should understand this very simple concept by now. Criminals don't care about the law. An assault rifle registered with the ATF is at least 10k. You can get one on the street for a little over 2k. Either gun control politicians are fucking stupid, or they're trying to disarm the population. I'm leaning towards the latter.
there goes the right to bear arms

I don't think they should be banned either, maybe harshen up on the laws a little bit. Maybe make it a must to bring your gun in every (enter time here) to make sure the owner didn't sell it to some crook up the street.
E.G: Say you buy a new automatic weapon, the owners must bring it in every month and a half to make sure they didn't sell it to somebody. (Just an Idea, maybe to far fetched.)
