People who use it on their desktops and then complain about it not "feeling" like Windows 7 and etc. are just idiots.
Like many have already stated, it was designed for phones, tablets, and netbooks. It's also very useful if you have an older computer and want to install something modern onto it because it optimizes the use of hardware really well.
I'm going to wait until a good crack comes out before trying it myself, but I personally think I'm going to like it based off what I've seen. Going to install to a spare hard drive, and if I like it enough, switch my main over too.
I wouldn't like to use windows 8. I am currently sticking to vista for the sake of it :P
Anyways, you usually get used to 1 operating system then you don't want to change.
Why upgrade it ???? Win 8 is lighter than win 7 witch makes it better for less powerful machines. Aero isn`t gone , on RT it might be but on PRO it isn`t . Aside from the Star Menu (witch in fact is actually usable for me at least) isn`t much different from win 7 , the core is the same but lightened and as far I am concerned win 8 costs 20$ for win 7 users and win 7 costs 300$ ... I have a practically too powerful of a machine to care for the usage ,but you can see it`s better . Before you try it don't judge it to be bad , also win 8 is more compatible with XP programs .
it's obviously made for tablets and not computers
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
It only cost's 29Euro. I might even buy it , but...
I already torrented it before official relesase , Ilegal one is working great , so im not gonna buy it..
Sticking to 7. Aero>Metro.
You cant even run CF on Win8
Windows 7 -> for gaming / Windows 8 -> for kids which like colours and cool menu's to look at
Nuff said
Considering I've tested many games on W8 and they all run like shit compared to W7 I think I prefer W7.
If I can take W8, make it more stable all around for the games I like to play, remove all that touch screen adapted nonsense, add in my start menu, remove the metro shit and use stardocks start menu modifier, then I would be happy. For MY purposes W8 sucks. For the majority of people who just want to grab and go with useless shit (IE: touchscreen monitors/tablet compatibility, just get a fucking tablet) then its great.
Lehsyrus ,man I don't know where do you actually take your information from and I have no idea how much of a gamer you are , but I have since one month with win 8 installed 22 games (all hardcore on the graphs and CPU usage) and compared to the 7 they all work better ,faster and easier. My machine is a powerhouse , I don't even care how much of it is used ,yet everything is running way easier. First off start reading a little what is changed in the core of win 8 , you will see that win 8 actually makes everything you have in your machine to work for the game you are playing and working with much in the background giving you more performance . Second I have tested these games on both wins : Crysis ,Crysis 2 , BF3 , MW3 , NFS- Shift 2 and The Run , AC Revelations and all work better on win 8 . As for what I know , I have been working and studying computer hardware since I was 6 so I know what I need to look for. Also you can`t say that your machine is weaker thus not giving you enough since I made a PC play Crysis 2 with a 8600 GTS on MAX on win 8 , while a GTX550 had trouble playing it on medium on win 7...
The reason to why?
Well, w8 is more based on tablets. Or touch.
That's the main reason. People like to use their mouse,or. Is used to it.
And when they get an touch based OS. Well, for some this is new and un-wanted.
As well as it's more based on internet. Let's say it simple. They want you to use more microsoft products.
So they have added better accsess to their products.
Metro is something new as well.
Some are seeing metro as bad. Because it's simple and not that 'good looking'.
+ It have been said, that it's not very good for gamers.
But that is just something I have heard, and can't say if it's true.
But yes, buy a new PC. (Tablet with docking) Then you will be loving w8.
It also have a new BIOS system, so it will be a change for those who work with IT support and more.
There is a reason to why many companies stick with win XP. Because its small, fast. And good for such jobs.
So is w8, it's simplw, and fast.
So, it all comes to- what kindof user you are :-)
i like aero more than i like metro.. imo
I bought it and i really like it compared to windows 7. imo its worth getting it
