Has anyone tried Windows 8 on a desktop yet?
I just played around with windows 8 on my friend's new laptop this past weekend, and it looks like Windows 8 is the best thing to happen to Linux since Vista... I'm puzzled why Microsoft would be pushing a tablet OS onto large screen devices.
I'm wondering if anyone has tried it on a multi-monitor desktop yet? Is it as bad as I think it's going to be? I have 4 monitors so I'm wondering if I'm going to have to hang onto Windows 7 for quite a few years. It was frustratingly brutal to navigate even just on one 17" laptop screen, especially for someone like me who learned computers on Windows NT and 95. All of the "back doors" and shortcuts, even terminology, has been completely changed (or erased!).
As of 9/17, I will be away for a few days due to medical reasons. Should be back up soon. Please refer to a GM or other mods in whatever particular section you need help with.

Running 4 monitors? Huge desk and kinda overkill.
Win 8 has native multi monitor support, and I'm running it with Win 8. Just disable UAC/Metro and get Start8 and it's like how Windows 8 should have been.

Works perfectly and the metro isn't that bad , I`ve been working on win 8 for about a month and I got used to it

I use all 4 monitors frequently. I am a scientist and do a lot of work from home. When I'm gaming I enable Xfire and it automatically brings it down to 2 monitors. I find no issues with multiple monitors for windows 7; AMD's catalyst center has had some huge improvements over the last couple years regarding that. Originally Posted by arunforce

It looks good, but I wouldn't install it because most of the games are still not compatible with Win 8.

Linux got a huge boost in activity when people who hate macs still wanted a good OS, and the only "new" option was Vista. I'm suggesting the same thing is going to happen, since it seems that W8 is a fail for a desktop OS. Originally Posted by Jetamay
