well.
i had a benefit of it, and it really "destroyed" the fun.
Try to look it from the other side:
What is the aim of the game? to gather fame and to get some really awesome item drops.
You join guilds, you team-up, you do mass-instances, you cooperatively play to have fun and - as a reward of your organization -> you may get an awesome rare drop. something that really is rare and which everybody will be after. you'll be proud of it, in a certain way.
Now, with the "item hack", everybody was able to get all those items. 30 Minutes later, you have an 8/8 char with the best equipment on the game. What will be the aim of it? Just running around like a zombie, killing some mobs in order to reach the 2000 fame (or even more).
you'll lose interests in joining a nice WC since you are full of potions and nice items. The fame can be gained somewhere else - you don't need the WC for that.
Now, since everybody is running around with an awesome char, nobody will even bother joining a WC because the chars might die over there. End of the story: people lost their aim in the game, and the cooperative gameplay to achieve something good will simply be gone.
On the other hand, you see a guy who plays the game for about 1-2 years. "working" really hard for the nice items. Such person can also be considered an instance initiator as he motivates people to join him to gather some cool loot. Now, after 1-2 years of hard gameplay, he has gained some valuable items, which from one moment to another are just some random items everybody has. he will lose his fame as a good player, because he'll go under as just another char who might have hacked the items.
Would you like all your hard work just going under and being ignored, or better, you being offended and accused from cheating good items?
These kind of people then leave the game, people who actually are an important part of the community which play an important role of cooperative gameplay.
Considering this, i had my fun as well, of course - who didn't? but I'm sure I'm one of the few who only bought 1 item of each kind (to equip and play all classes)
and did not spread items in the game like a fool. i didn't even "try" any unreleased item. it doesn't take much common sense to understand that such action will actually leave a devastating trace behind (for your account, and for the game itself).
My goal of getting good items is reached but I'm still after potions and the 2000 fame points for each character.
long text, huh? i wonder who reads it
