[HELP]- i5 vs i7

Hey y'alll

I am looking to buy a new gaming computer. Many people have told me not to get i7 for gaming, because i5 does it just as well.

I understand this but for an extra 100$ is it worth it, what other perks am I getting, all I know of is faster rendering, which is kind of useless

to me at this current time.

I would love to hear your opinions, for gaming and general use.

If you are going to work with cinema 4d etc... i would go for i7 since it has hyperthreading etc.. It has 4 cores and 4 virtual cores which makes it 8
But i would not get it for gaming since it has same performance as i5. maybe 1% faster lol

Yes you're better off getting the i7 for gaming but it requires other components.
Try getting over 4GB of Ram at least and a reliable/good video card.

I would get the i5 and which one are you getting?
You should also go the reddit and go the sub section BuildaPc and post all your parts.
They helped me get the more best options for like cost vs performance. they also give you tips on what you should do.

i got an i7 and theres not really a difference from the i5 to the i7 lol
just renders faster in sony vegas..

i5 is almost identical to i7, it's just cheaper and more efficient, in my perspective.

No, i7 does not need extra components.

Just get an i5 (I assume you're talking about the 3570 or 3550).

No, not really.

The i5 is nearly identical to the i7, however I'd much rather get the i5 in your case.

It's cheaper as well.

If buying a laptop, always buy the base quad i7 instead of the dual i5.

When it comes to desktop, the only difference is that you can Hyperthread and do more rendering in maya/3DSMAX/zBRUSH. Get the i5 budget wise.
