What the internet has done for me..

A lot of people don't understand the possibilities on the internet - what you can learn, what you can do, people you can meet and actually befriend and converse with. I've learned a lot on the internet but have cut my time even on being on the PC and you know, life. But a lot recently in real life has pissed me off. How oblivious people are. I hear plenty of simplistic questions, things you can get straight to the point with, but because these people aren't willing, or think they know what they're talking about because of FOX (because we all know we can believe what they say).

Like today in my Spanish class, for example. A question was thrown out there: "Why won't the US convert to the metric system, why won't the US convert to the West's currency?"

In my opinion, it's because we have so many things built on our system and currency that if we were to convert now, think of the costs and time wasted switching over. One MPH sign times how ever many there are, and we have to go out and swap them out, and those are the simple things. As for the currency, the Western part of the world isn't the only place with a different currency than ours.

I was able to answer that in my opinion simply because I have learned to do so from the internet.

Another kid was talking about the Swine Flu outbreak in class as well, and said he knows (he insisted it because he had heard it from somewhere) that the flu is a "hybrid flu" (that's what FOX called it), a mix between people flu (whatever the fuck that is, scientific name please?), bird flu, and swine flu. /Sigh.

Also, in history class, my teacher told us to check out the internet. He mentions Firefox, but he - unsurprisingly - doesn't understand that a web browser is a web browser. He goes on as if he knows what he's talking about that Internet Explorer has 6.78 more viruses than Firefox. How does he figure? Sure, there's obviously more vulnerabilities (that's why nobody uses Windows servers ) but HOW did he get those statistics.

All this nonsense about anything is starting to piss me off. It's as if I can't believe any of you exist that visit the forums because, all of you are so much more intelligent than anybody I know in any real life encounters. It's bewildering.

So I have this to ask you: what have you achieved from this colossal "waste of time"?
