LG and Samsung have their own areas of expertise. LG TV's are fantastic, better aspect ratios, and a crisp picture that can't be beat. The only issue with LG is the MS rating for gaming, they're slightly slower than Samsung. Samsungs SMART technology is a bit better, and their LED TV's show true black rather than illuminated depending on if you get edge-lit backlighting or a DIMM bulb. LG's a better buy for 42"+, Samsungs great for 29-40". It really depends on your needs.
I'll choose LG for movies, whereas I'll choose Samsung for gaming
