How to download and use the War Z emulator.

Figured why not, don't really have a tutorial on this forum, maybe someone might like it.

Step 1: Download the full War Z game here: https://warzemulator.com/dl/WarZ.rar

Step 2: Extract the files and run the War Z launcher. Let it update, then close it.

Step 3: Download the emulators client files from here: https://warzemulator.com/dl/WarZ.rar

Step 4: Add this line to your hosts file

76.115.137.4 api1.thewarinc.com

To edit your hosts file do this

 

Step 1: Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
Step 2: Open the file "hosts" using notepad.
Step 3: Go to the bottom of the notepad, add a new line, and paste this in there "76.115.137.4 api1.thewarinc.com"

Common errors:

 

Open the directory where your 'hosts' file is. (Default location is "C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc" but varies by nationality and Operating System.)
Rename your 'hosts' file to 'hosts1'.
Copy the 'hosts1' file and paste it into somewhere you can find it, in this example I will use 'Documents'.
Open the 'hosts1' copy that is in 'Documents' using notepad.
Copy and paste "76.115.137.4 api1.thewarinc.com" into the bottom of your notepad
Click 'File' then 'Save'.
Rename your now-edited 'hosts1' file in 'Documents' to 'hosts'.
Paste it back into the original directory.

This error, that happens when trying to login via the launcher, occurs during the 'update' process. It is due to the patch server being overloaded. There is no fix as of yet, the only thing you can do is remain patient and try again now or at a later time.

 

If you experience the 'Code 7' error whilst creating a character, it is because your username has 'illegal characters' such as "_" or "@". To get past this issue you need to only make character names with letters and numbers.

 

This issue occurs after you have managed to successfully join a server. Whilst connecting to the server, your 'loading game data' bar may appear slow or fast, but consistent in its rate. This issue, put simply, means that somebody else clicked 'Join Game' when you did. This means that you are competing for the server slot. If you get sent back to Character Selection, then the other player got the slot.

 

Solution 1. Try launching the game from your directory.
Solution 2. Try changing the server region from North America (NA) to Europe (EU) and click apply filters. Then change it back to NA.
Solution 3. It may mean that the server is full, plain and simple; there is nothing wrong with your connection. This is due to the nature of the emulator, as certain functionality is currently lost. Try again in a couple of minutes.

 

This particular bug, which many have come across, is an issue that stems from the original War Z, not the emulator. It involves a player being randomly and suddenly killed without any discernible reason or cause and occurs in a variety of places. To explain briefly, this issue arises from 'invisible walls' built within the map that, for reasons unknown, kill players who walk into them and thus trigger their death.

As said by Adriel83, basically what Tunngle is. If you are unsure what Tunngle is as well, it is pretty much "Play War Z for free, and being ran by different people"

A couple people also had the same result as you, not needing to change it. However some people was still having problems without doing that. Not sure what decides if you need to or not.

No, you create one account for the emulator, you don't need to be banned
