We are a materialistic society. Wealth is what drives us to do what we do. You said you are looking for work, you would only be doing that for money. Material things are what we center our lives around. That's why we celebrate Christmas and holidays now-a-days. It should be to come together to attempt to be a more peaceful society, and get closer to family and loved ones, but it's not. We give each other gifts to see that smile of true gratitude. I find the utmost enjoyment when I see a person open up a gift and get that huge grin. There is no faking something like that. While that smile should be originating from just being with family, at least we can still get it somehow. It does show how materialistic we are, but hey, it's what makes us happy. Why not celebrate holidays if we can get even a small shrivel of happiness out of the day. Happiness to me is the most important thing in life and we should try to get every last ounce of it. Holidays help get just that extra little ounce. So why not celebrate them?

You don't get gifts? Well, there's still family...
Family doesn't celebrate Christmas either
I've said Merry Christmas to then, but I myself don't see the point of celebrating

We are either forced or indoctrinated to live in a materialistic society because the bankers won. Since when do societies become peaceful with the constant promotion of individualism and egocentrism of both individuals and societies? The happiness you speak of are only temporary happiness...temporary.
If you have, do explain
I like things. Don't you?
For family. And tradition.
you get free shit.
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
