Considering you were the one complaining about a movie saying its based off of a true story, you seem to be confusing that phrase with documentary. Documentary = true to life events. Based on a true story = part of the story was inspired by real events, but does not follow the literal chain of events that happened.

No, I said that people thought that since it says "Based on True Events" in the beginning of the movie (at least in the 2003 version), people assume that it's 100% completely true and that most everything that transpired in the movie happened.
