I hiked the Appalachian Trail from start to finish about a month after I was done with High School.
Took about 3 months, and though I will never forget that experience for as long as I live,
I would probably never put myself through something like that again unless I had no other options left.
Every single day is work. Even more so if you plan on hunting.
You won't ever sleep out in the wilderness like you do in a bed. Even when I got shit drunk I slept with one eye open.
You kind of have to. Animals aren't the only danger out there, there are some crazy fucking nomads in the woods sometimes.
Unless you plan on eating squirrels the whole time out there, you'll have to constantly be moving to look for game.
They smell you, and they want no part of you. Fire is the biggest pain in the ass anyone will run into.
The shit isn't like survivor man, or any other bs on t.v. It's easy enough to get a tinder bundle going,
and that can be done multiple ways, but good luck using that to ignite downed timber that's been soaking in rain for 2 days.
That especially sucks when you need to get water boiled for consumption. You need to have a plan,
and you need adequate starting gear before just going out into the wilderness.
You should probably just plan an extended trip, rather than set a goal of living out there.
If you don't know what you're doing, or don't have much survival training you might as well dig yourself a hole out there while you're at it.
