Banned for Smurfing?

My friend and I recently downloaded Smurf lvler V3.
He is making accounts and using it to lvl them up and give me referalls.
We are hoping to get all the way up to 100+ referalls.

I was just wondering, on the League of Legends forums it said that they will ban you if they catch
you smurfing, and that their staff is on high alert for smurfers.

Has anyone gotten banned by doing this? Or is Riot just trying to scare
customers into submission? Honestly, I don't want them to see I have 100+ referalls and get suspicious
and ban me.....

Well, if they patch the Referral Bot and you use it... you basically have lost your main account.
Simple as taht.
