Sorry, but it's quite obvious that people in Guangzhou and Hong Kong and Macau don't appreciate that the PRC is trying to make them use more mandarin. There were protests when they were planning on replacing TV channels with mandarin ones. Forbidding Cantonese in PRC public schools = wtf?

I feel bad for the over 1 billion people who are writing and reading artificial chinese. The traditional characters evolved over time into what they are now naturally, instead of all of a sudden being changed at once. Simplification took away some of the Chinese culture.

Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan beat PRC all day any day.

Who cares about simplified mandarin. The only problem here is that Cantonese (and Hokkien) is no longer being taught, but guess what, times change. There have been thousands of languages that have been lost to the ages, you'd be pissing in the wind to try and stop that.
