    You realize that each chinese character is less of a letter and more of a word.

    And the characters are broken into smaller, simpler parts too, like English

    The word: Read

    English: Read. R+E+A+D
    Japanese:  言+士+冗

    Exactly, they make a symbol for everything. What about Non-Existent words like Lunari? How the would you make that with a symbol, and nobody would understand it.
    You were seeking strength, justice, splendour.
    You were seeking love.
    Here is the pit, here is your pit.

    We have an alphabet for native japanese words and an alphabet for foreign words.

    Also, you can make character compounds based off their meanings for new words too

    Telephone = 電話
    電(Electricity)話(speak)

    We have 3 writing systems.

    1 is Kanji, Chinese characters, each represent a meaning, so essentially a word
    2 is Hiragana, which is used for stuff like function words, verb endings and japanese words that have no kanji for it
    3 is Katakana, which is used mostly for foreign words like names and such
