bhopping originated in (I'd say around) CS 1.3. A guy by the name of kreedz was like "yo climbing is fun because I have autism" and made a bunch of climbing maps, with the suffix "kz" before each map name (like how dust2 is de_dust2, etc.). Then the same guy remembered "oh right this is just a modified version of the quake engine" and found out how to bhop. Bhopping has been around much longer than Crossfire has even existed.
