Xbox was originally a copy of PlayStation, that's why they'll always lose.

Sony did not invent the gaming console, so the Xbox was not originally a copy of Playstation. Technically the Xbox was the first gaming console to have an online gaming service (Xbox Live), and Playstation copied that with the Playstation 3. Figuratively speaking, the Xbox 360 beat the Playstation 3 in sales, not even counting the revenue from Xbox Live subscriptions. The original Xbox has 250,000 paying subscriptions within a month of it's release in 2001. Sony has never had any.

The original was solely based on multiplayer and was pretty much the only thing of it's kind at the time (in the console realm). Back then it was okay to pay for it as there wasn't much of an alternative. Years later Sony was able to realise the potential of an online service and they gave it to us free of charge. M$ has yet to acknowledge this and continue trying to charge people for shit that is free on every single other platform, albeit successfully.

You're right, it's not really about anyone copying anyone else. But the two online services are incredibly different to each other and always have been.
