"Infinity Ward’s animation lead Zach Volker tells OPM:
“When we’re talking about a new engine we’re talking about upgrading significant systems within in that engine. We’re not talking about throwing it all away and saying we’re starting from the ground up”.

While I think they SHOULD start a new engine from scratch, not upgrade WHICH isn't a new engine, for the next gen consoles. It's expensive and time consuming, especially on a busy schedule.

Frostbite 2=/=new engine It is not fully new but still i agree that there is a bigger difference then just adding tesselation

I think they should take their time and wait a few years to develop a complete new engine. What CoD ******s don't see that they just keep adding new guns and maps, and then they're just like UHRR LURL NEW STUFF GUTTA BUY THIS.

And i'm happy with Battlefield 4. Only wished they made something crazy good like Frostbite 2 again, even if it would take 5 years to make. But than again i'm started to get bored of battlefield 3 and a new game is alright at this time

Pretty sure they don't just upgrade the engine. Same name, different engine. Some of the underlying logic may be the same and the SDK structuring, but underlying is likely 50%+ different.

i think its basically all the old quake engine except for mw2 which was the only one with a unique engine.

I doubt it, no reason to remake a wheel when you got a perfectly good one with scratched up paint sitting next to you. All they care about profits, update the graphics and shaders, add a couple more fancy features, push it out to devs and cash in.

CoD and Activision don't even bother to update the graphics. They all feel like the exact same game, Battlefield feels "familiar."
