What's the best way to fix crashing? Every time I change shadow settings my game immediately crashes. I already uninstalled and reinstalled and it didn't fix it.

How do I "check" the cache? Do you mean like validate the cache files because that's the only option I can find pertaining to the cache

Alright trying that to see if it works, will update in a sec if it does.

Edit: Tried that. Validated the cache files, waited a minute, restarted the game and then reinstalled the hack and it still crashed immediately when I applied the changed shadow settings. Any other options?

For those having a problem with shadows, there is a more professional way of doing this.
Simply start the game, go to training, set up a practice match, open console.

in this order enter

sv_cheats 1
mat_reloadallmaterials
sv_cheats 0

All servers that support custom materials will now work, you no longer need to change the settings every time you join a server.
You need to do this every time you start TF2, but it's a lot less of a hassle in the long term. This has worked since forever.

Also when is there going to be a non-color release? Shit looks ugly and it's harder to tell who is behind a wall in some maps with the flat eyesore two dimensions this brings to the table.

I found out the mats from the stickied thread still work. The non-colored versions are there, you just don't copy over particles.

Although you kinda see the inside of the player models (like the teeth, etc. . .) it works!
