everything on the internet eventually dies. Facebook isnt making as much as they were a few years ago. They will eventually implement premium access and shit... then someone will create an alternate to facebook and it will just go in a loop.

Social media sites will always rotate popularity, myspace was in, then moved to facebook. No one wanted to leave MySpace and most doubted that it would go out of style, but it did. Now it's time for the same thing I guess, at least Facebook is trying to keep it's users by staying with the trending style of webpages. Going back to a minimalistic and easy to use feel.
