Pirate singleplayer, buy multiplayer. There are some sp games that I buy though, like Far Cry 3 and Hitman when they're sale. I buy all my PS3 games though.

Lots of people prefer pirating mp games and using private servers. The pirated version of Modern Warfare 2 (alterIWNet) was much better than the actual paid version. It had dedicated servers (with really good admin controls), mod support and much better anti-cheat.

A fair share of games don't have private servers.

Not enough people hosting servers aIW had at least 600 active servers running 24/7 during it's peak. I'm stuck on a few US servers for 4D1 until my ping gets too high.

^ Basically every pirate who has somewhat of a conscience operates by this. I'll only buy SP games of specific developers, but always buy MP games. (Mainly because you can't play most online without purchasing a legitimate copy; unless you use private servers, which can be poop.)

Yeah also seems that either the people hosting now have shitty server hardware or the netcode is worse now. Lagging like crazy most of the time.
