1/x= 4-x
x(4-x)=1
4x-x2=1
x2(x squared)-4x+1=0
(x- 2)(x-2 )=0
x=2 x=2 easy, thank you for reminding me of factorizing, really thanks mate.

Aha nope :P, you cannot factor 1/x, but you can factor something like x/4 example :

x + x/4 + 3x = 0
x(1 + 1/4 + 3) = 0
17x/4 = 0
17x = 4 * 0 ------> x = 17 * 0 -------> x = 0
x = 0

ok then.

Solve for x over the real number

x+1/x=4 write
(the left hand side as a single fraction)

Bring x+1/x together using the common denominator x:

x^2+1/x=4
(multiply both sides by a polynomial to clear fraction)

Multiply both sides by x:

x^2+1=4x
(move everything to the left hand side)

Subtract 4x from both sides

x^2-4x+1=0
(solve the quadratic equation by completing the square)

Subtract 1 from both sides:

x^2-4x=-1
(take one half of the coefficient of x and square it. then add it to both sides)

Add 4 to both sides:

x^2-4x+4=3
(factor the left hand side)
